Well, technically, you can use every logo you want since most of the time, it's just a simple copy and paste, but you should not do this.
If they find out, then you could be in big trouble. It's the same reason as to why you should not dropship copyrighted products.
How do you create a favicon from your logo?
Now that you have your logo, it's time to create a favicon!
A favicon is an icon on a website, which is displayed next to the name of the site in the address bar. It’s also visible in the bookmarks!
I will use this blog as an example for you. Do you see my favicon next to the name of the blog:
The easiest way to create a favicon from your logo is by using one of the sites below:
The only thing you have to keep in mind while creating your favicon is that not every logo fits as a favicon.
For example, take a look at our logo:
If we put that logo as the favicon, then it won't be readable since it will be cropped too much:

One more big tip, if your logo is smaller than the favicon box, then make sure it's transparent.
Otherwise, you will have a big white box around it, which won't look good. (As you can see in my examples above)
However, for some logos, it might look better, but most have the white box around their favicon because they didn't know they can remove it.
