If you are currently researching the fitness niche and searching for some awesome product examples or fitness store examples, congratulations on finding this article!

Keep on reading, because on this page, you will come across some jaw-dropping ecommerce statistics about the fitness niche, some outstanding fitness stores that will inspire you, as well as a few amazing fitness products that you could sell online.

That's not all, because for each fitness store, I will tell you what they did really well so that you can learn and get inspired by those things!

Not bad, right?

I hope you are excited too, so let's get started!

Information about the fitness niche

Fitness is an evergreen niche that focuses on products around exercising and health. If you love to go to the gym and work out and you're passionate about fitness, starting an online fitness store could be very lucrative.

The fitness niche is pretty broad, and like many niches, can be subgrouped into other smaller niches that fit into the fitness niche. For example, some more specific fitness niches are:

  • Home gym equipment
  • Yoga equipment
  • Rehabilitation products
  • Muscle recovery products
  • Sport nutrition products

A great thing about this niche is that it is more popular than ever (which I will show you in a moment). It's a great time to run a fitness niche store, and there are tons of excellent products to sell out there.

Some general product examples that fit into the fitness niche are resistance bands, fitness mats, armbands, fitness trackers, training programs, jump ropes, foam rollers, and many more.

Fitness Ecommerce Statistics

The fitness niche is growing faster than ever.

The total revenue for the US's fitness niche already exceeded $3.5B in 2018 and is expected to grow at an annual growth rate of 4.3%.

While the fitness industry in Europe is slightly smaller (total revenue $2.54B in 2018), it is expected that the industry will grow at a faster rate compared to the US, reaching a growth rate of 5.5% annually.

One possible cause for this rapid growth is social media. The biggest fitness brands right now take full advantage of social media by creating a full-scale community around their brand, comprised of millions of their loyal and engaged followers.

In this community, members can share their fitness progression and post health and wellness content, inspiring others to keep on training as well. Here's an example featuring Gymshark:

Gymshark community post example

Studies show that 78% of adults over 18 years old exercise or would like to. Meanwhile, 27% of the adult population occasionally attends fitness facilities.

This is huge because it means that fitness is actually the world's most prominent “sport”.

To give you an idea of what topics are currently hot in the fitness industry, here are some key trends:

  • Wearable technology: This is a technology that is reshaping the fitness world and is getting more popular each year. It's already the market's largest segment, according to Statista. Fitness trackers, smartwatches, and heart rate monitors attract a broad audience, from beginners to seasoned athletes.
  • High-intensity interval training: The HIIT method remains a popular trend in the fitness industry. In just under half an hour, exercisers achieve an efficient and effective workout featuring high-intensity exercises follow by short breaks. Fitness professionals ranked HIIT as one of the top fitness trends in 2019.
  • Group training: This training style continues to be extremely popular, especially among millennials, who thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of it. The group training style is designed to effectively train everyone that is present, independently of their fitness level. Training in a group also creates a highly motivating environment that pushes everyone to keep going and not to give up.

The list of 6 fitness niche store examples

I have separated this article into two parts. The first part will contain some awesome fitness niche store examples, while the other part will feature fitness products that you can dropship!

Please keep in mind that these store examples should be used for inspiration only. You should never copy everything from these fitness stores to your own store because you won't make it as a copycat.

If you do that, then it will be a lot harder later on to beat your competition.

In this list, you will find some fantastic fitness niche store examples. But don't worry, I won't just post a few links to some stores and call it a day.

I will also review each store on this list and tell you about some things you can learn from them.

Hopefully, this list will inspire you to create your own (fitness) store. As a last tip, don't forget that you can search these stores to find some excellent fitness product examples.

Let's go!

Important reminder: These examples are intended to inspire creativity and innovation in building your own brand.

While it can be helpful to learn from successful businesses, it is essential to avoid simply copying their strategies and ideas. Instead, strive to create a unique brand that sets your business apart and resonates with your target audience.

1. Alo Yoga

Alo Yoga homepage

The first fitness store example I have for you today is called Alo Yoga. You might even know them already since they're quite popular!

Their mission is to bring yoga to the world and sell high-quality, sustainable garments that can be worn not only on the yoga mat but on the street as well.

You can find inspiration from Alo Yoga in many things, but you should especially take a look at the following aspects.

First of all, their store headings are unique. Standard homepage headings that most fitness stores use look like this:

  • New Products
  • Shop Men's
  • Shop Women's

Alo Yoga has some unique headings that add some playful feelings to their store. They play with emojis, points, commas, and capital letters to create fantastic headings like these:

  • BEST.GIFT.EVER
  • NEED. NOW.
  • ACCOLADE ? IS ? HERE
Alo Yoga unique headings fitness store example

Furthermore, they also have a large social media following. They have 2.7m followers on Instagram, made their own app, and even have their own 390k subscribers Youtube channel, which is filled with free yoga classes.

I'm sure that doing all of this generates a considerable amount of organic sales from organic traffic coming from their Instagram page and Youtube channel. It also helps them to retain their customers at the same time!

Now, I know that growing an Instagram account to thousands of followers and making Youtube videos isn't easily doable for new fitness stores. However, remember that there are many other methods to get free traffic to your store; check them out here!

You can start with the easier ones, and move on to more demanding (but potentially more rewarding) methods like creating your own Youtube channel once your brand has grown a bit.

2. Jawrsize

Jawrsize homepage

Next up is Jawrsize; their main product is a fitness device that promises to redefine your jawline.

Jawrsize was already featured once on Do Dropshipping, for their awesome Instagram shoutout. You can find their shoutout here (I also explain what's so good about it).

Another thing that the people of Jawrsize do perfectly is their store design. Instead of having a standard product page and product category pages like 99% of all other online stores, Jawrsize has built its store wholly tailored around their product.

Their product solves a problem, but before people buy their product, they will need to know how it exactly works. So, they created a dedicated page to explain to their visitors how the product works, including a self-made Youtube video.

Jawrsize "How does it work" page

That's not all; they even have a dedicated “Where To Start?” page, explaining which different levels they offer. And even a review page, showcasing their customers' results after using their product! Interested in how you can create a unique Shopify review page? Check out our article here.

The last thing I will mention about Jawrsize is their awesome FAQ page. When selling a fitness/health product of which it isn't immediately clear how it works, it's crucial to give detailed answers to specific questions about your product, and they do! For more awesome FAQ page examples, you can check out this article.

3. Gaiam

Gaiam homepage

Gaiam is a general store centered around the fitness niche.

The most remarkable thing about this fitness store example is the number of different products that they sell. This brings me to the first point of why you might want to take a look at their website. It's great if you are looking for inspiration on which fitness products you can sell.

Gaiam broad range of products

They offer almost all fitness product categories you could think of, including yoga, gym/fitness, active balance, apparel, recovery, and meditational products!

Another cool thing about Gaiam's website is that it has a dedicated Q&A section for each product. Here, customers can ask questions about the specific product they're looking at. This is how it looks:

4. Fabletics

Fabletics homepage

Fabletics offers affordable, high quality, and stylish workout clothes for women & men.

One thing they do exceptionally well is engaging their visitors into their interactive online store. Their store design features live videos, sweeping images, and even an interactive lifestyle quiz for new visitors!

This quiz asks new visitors some targeted questions about their lifestyle and style preference. Based on their answers, Fabletics can personalize outfit offers for each member of their VIP program!

Fabletics interactive quiz

Like I already mentioned, they offer a VIP program that engages their customers and allows them to have a higher returning customer rate.

Fabletics VIP membership

Their VIP program offers several benefits to their loyal customers, like 50+% discounts, a less strict return & exchange policy, and exclusive 24/7 member support services.

5. Mava Sports

Mava Sports homepage

When visiting Mava Sports‘ website, you immediately notice that their store loads extremely quickly.

I was actually quite confused when I first experienced it. “Finally, I get some fast internet speeds”, I thought. That moment of happiness quickly passed as I tried to load the website of Fabletics again. It turns out that Mava Sports went to the extreme to speed up their website loading times.

Vali Vetan, the founder of Mava Sports, says:

You can have the best advertising, but if the people don’t wait for the page to load, it’s useless.

So, he removed as many non-essential apps and plug-ins that didn't have much impact on the customer's experience and implemented a LazyLoad script. The result was a page that loads 5x faster than before!

According to Neil Patel, a one-second delay in page response can lower your conversion rate by up to 7%.

Some people might argue that spending so much effort on a few seconds makes no sense, but this proves them wrong! If your store generates $10k per day in revenue, that 7% can cause you to miss up to $250k in sales per year.

If you are looking to reduce your website's loading speed as well, check out our article in which we show you 7 ways to make your store load faster.

6. Fab

Fab homepage

The last fitness niche store example I have for you today is Fab. Although they don't seem that active anymore, there are still a few things that Fab does Fabulous, and therefore we can still learn and get inspired by them.

One of those fabulous things is offering free at-home yoga classes. Considering the current (Covid-19) situation, it's amazing that they do that!

I'm not sure if they already did this before the pandemic, but it's important to remember that you should think in solutions rather than in problems. They probably saw a need for at-home yoga classes as most yoga studios were closed, so they offered classes on their online store and probably got more traffic to their site by doing it!

Fab Shopify blog

Another great thing that Fab does is writing blogs about their niche and products.

Doing so can increase their conversion rate as customers read about their products and improve their SEO ranking to get free traffic to their site. You can read more about how to get more free traffic and improve your SEO ranking here.

3. Ab Roller Resistance Band Trainer

Ab roller fitness niche product examples

Most people will know or have seen an ab roller already. It looks easy, but those who have tried it will agree that it's actually much harder than it seems.

It's so hard that most beginners won't manage to do one or two repetitions without falling on the ground after.

That's precisely what problem this product solves. It allows beginners to train their abs at home, doing the same exercise, but in an easier way. The rollers are connected to resistance bands, which make it much easier to do the exercise.
